To date, no roster of the 2nd Depot Company, 1st Battalion, Invalid Corps (Company F, 14th Regiment, Veterans Reserve Corps), has been located. In addition, the location of the unit is uncertain. This company probably served at Washington, D. C., or perhaps at Alexandria, Virginia. The 14th Regiment of the Invalid Corps (IC) was organized October 10, 1863, probably at Washington, D. C. Many of the men assigned to the “IC” complained that the use of “IC” was degrading because damaged or destroyed government equipment was marked “IC”, standing for “Inspected – Condemned”. In March 1864, the name Invalid Corps was officially changed to the “Veterans Reserve Corps”. |
