5 centavos CARTONES. approx. 57 x 30 mm. In 1914 the Villista government re-opened the old national mint at Chihuahua and prepared to produce bronze 5 centavos coins. Issue of the coins did not begin until December 1914. The pasteboard cartones were probably issued to serve in the interim, pending the release of the coins. All cartones are difficult to obtain. |
